ENTRY DEADLINE Aug. 20, 2010

Lake Eustis Museum of Art calls artists age 18 and over to submit up to two entries for PAPER WORKS 4 ME II juried, works on paper competition and exhibition. Established 16 years ago as the only art museum in Lake County Florida, Lake Eustis Museum of Art offers innovative programs, exhibits and collections that reflect diversity and nurture culture and creativity. The annual PW4M national competitive exhibit offers visual artist a unique opportunity to exhibit at an art museum and to possibly be added to the museum’s collection of fine art.

Ryan Burkhart, co-founder of Firsthand Editions in Charlotte, N.C., is judge for PAPER WORKS 4 ME II. Burkhart is an internationally recognized visual artist, collaborator and publisher. He serves as Editorial Arts Coordinator for Southern Review Magazine. Burkhart directed Flying Horse Editions Fine Arts Research Press at the University of Central Florida, Orlando, from 2001 – ’08, where he collaborated with other international artists to create fine prints and art books.

Burkhart’s art has twice been featured in New American Paintings magazine and is in collections at Brown University; Yale University; The Ashville Museum of Art;  Sungkok Museum of Art in Seoul, Korea and The Royal Academy of Art, Antwerp, Belgium. He has been artist-in-residence at Frans Masareel Center for Printmaking, Kasterlee, Belgium and at Seacourt Print Center, Bangor, North Ireland. His work is exhibited widely in the Southeast, the nation and the world.

Use of paper as a primary element is required for entries in PAPER WORKS 4 ME II. Works may not be larger than 36-inches in any direction, whether 2-or-3-dimensional pieces. Artists working in any media – painting, sculpture, assemblage, photography, cutting, art books and more – are invited to submit up to two entries for a $30 fee non-refundable fee.

Deadline for entry is Aug. 20, 2010, through submission of clear JPEG images ONLY.  No pdfs! Artists selected for exhibition and to vie for purchase awards totaling $1,500, will be notified by Oct. 10, 2010 and will be responsible for shipment by Nov. 10, 2010 of their gallery ready work to and from Lake Eustis Museum of Art for exhibit there from Dec. 10, 2010– Jan. 10, 2011. Watch for Lake Eustis Museum of Art’s PAPER WORKS 4 ME as an annual opportunity for artists to be exhibited by this North American Reciprocal Museum national museum network participant, with membership in American Association of Museums, Florida Association of Museums, ArtistRegistry.com and Eustis Chamber of Commerce.

Artists, age 18 and up, may submit up to two entries for a $30 fee. All entries must contain a significant paper element and may not exceed 36-inches in any directions. 2-D framed works must be under Plexiglas only. Gallery ready prints, paintings, photos, collage, sculpture, cutting, assemblage, digital, suspensions, art books, etc. accepted.

 

A $30 non refundable donation to Lake Eustis Museum of Art must be made by check, money order or Visa, Master Card or Discover credit only. Insufficient funds will mandate a $40 fee.

 

Each work must be identified on this form and on the piece the following code:

First three letters of artist’s last name and the first letter of first name, followed by the No. 1, or No. 2, followed by the first four letters in the title of the piece. For two images of a 3-D piece, add the letters (a) and (b) to the end of the code.

All works juried into the exhibit will be displayed at the art museum. Exhibited artists will compete for purchase awards with a combined $1,500 value. The museum does not sell art, but will pass along artist’s contact information.

Submit a PC compatible disc showing one CLEAR & SHARP JPEG image of each 2-D work and up to two Jpeg images of 3-D work by U.S. mail to Lake Eustis Museum of Art, 200 B East Orange Ave., Eustis, FL 32726, along with a $30 entry fee. OR submit same entry by e-mail to: LkEustisArtMuseum@gmail.com, with credit card payment information including account holder’s name, account number, billing Zip code, brand of card and expiration date. No pdf art images accepted! Images that are not clear and sharp will not be considered for judging.

 

DEADLINE for submission: Aug. 20, 2010. Selected artists notified by: Oct. 10, 2010

Exhibit selections must be received by Lake Eustis Museum of Art by: Nov. 10, 2010

Exhibit opens: Dec. 10, 2010, and closes Jan. 16, 2011. All submitted art not claimed by Feb. 1, 2011 becomes property of Lake Eustis Museum of Art.

 Artist’s submission of images entitles Lake Eustis Museum of Art to use said images of this non-returnable material for marketing and promotion. Artists are responsible for all costs related to insurance and pre-paid shipping and handling of art to and from the museum. Lake Eustis Museum of Art is solely responsible for if and how works are chosen for exhibit in our venues, but accepts no responsibility for any loss or damages to entries. If entrants donate their work to the art museum collection, they will still be considered for a purchase award and will incur no cost for return shipping and handling.
